BIOGRAPHY

Kristina Setka is a clarinetist and music educator in Rochester, New York.  Kristina has a private clarinet studio and teaches clarinet at the Parkminster Music School.  Kristina is a member of ________ Reed Quintet and Trio. 

Previously, Kristina was a Teaching Artist for the Ravinia Festival’s Sistema Ravinia, where she taught group clarinet lessons, conducted band rehearsals, lead woodwind sectional and Bucket Beats.

 

Kristina received a Masters in Clarinet Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music in 2015 where she taught MUE-221 Clarinet Class. While at Eastman, Kristina was a member of the Eastman Philharmonia, the Eastman Wind Ensemble, and Ossia.  Kristina has performed in master classes for Ricardo Morales, Michel Lethiec, Mark Nuccio and Jon Manasse.  In 2013, Kristina made her international solo debut in Chåteauneuf, France.

Kristina’s awards include: an Eastman School of Music Graduate Teaching Assistantship, The John and Anastasia Graven Endowed Award for Excellence in Music, DePaul University’s Presidential Scholar Award, and DePaul University’s Music Performance Award. 

 

Kristina has a Bachelor of Music degree in Clarinet Performance from DePaul University, and is an alumna of Interlochen Arts Academy. Kristina has attended: Marrwostone Music Festival, the Zodiac Festival, and Interlochen.

Kristina’s principal teachers include Kenneth Grant, Larry Combs, Julie DeRoche, Susan Warner, Deborah Chodacki and Nancy Mathison.  

In addition to music engagements, Kristina is a 300-hour Certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher, and enjoys cooking and hiking.
